Vice-Dean Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev represented the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in the Education panel of the "Sound of Money" Forum, where the main topics were the 10 key competencies we must have in the 21st century, young people’s choices regarding education in Bulgaria or abroad, as well as an analysis on the topic of what good employees look for.
The panel moderator was Maria Gergova-Bengtsson, and the other participants in the discussion were Ivelina Petrova, Senior Corporate Sales Specialist, VIVACOM; Evelina Van Mensell, MBA, representative of the joint masters program of the American University in Bulgaria and SDA Bocconi; Darin Madjarov, creator, Ucha.se; Georgi Palpurin, Accredited Google Street View photographer, Project Consultant iedu360.eu; and Stefi Andreeva, Head of Transport and Logistics at Cargill Bulgaria's Center for Shared Business Services.
Assoc. Prof. Georgiev noted in his talk that the Faculty of Economics and Business Administation at Sofia University has very good relations with the business in Bulgaria – wich includes both international and Bulgarian companies. We are working towards collaboration on common initiatives that focus on the so-called soft skills and we are also trying to engage businesses in the program itself.
We already have many examples at the master's degree, but nowadays more and more often at the bachelor's and doctoral degree level, of business leaders coming to the lecture halls, sharing their experience, presenting real cases, supporting student projects, and all this dissolves the boundaries of the otherwise conservative environment the curriculum. With the help of the business, we manage to draw the students’ attention to these skills, said Assoc. Prof. Georgiev.
