On March 4, 2025, the second edition of the Architecture and Design Scientific School was officially launched. The initiative is a joint effort between the FEB Foundation and New Bulgarian University (NBU).
Participating students will work on conceptual projects for:
- Renovating the main lobby of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
- Creating a shared workspace for team collaboration.
- Designing a multipurpose event hall within the building.
This year’s edition will allow students to design and implement public spaces created "by students, for students".
During the official opening, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, Executive Director of the FEB Foundation and Vice-Dean for Sustainability, Empowerment, and Engagement at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, welcomed the participating students and faculty.
"I am happy that, together with our colleagues from New Bulgarian University, we have found common ground in recognizing the importance of practical work and student involvement in shaping public spaces for educational purposes. Over the next six weeks, you will work intensively, gain invaluable academic experience, and present creative projects that will enhance our learning and working environment. This is fantastic, and I thank you all", she said.
Following the opening event, students and faculty members visited the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration to explore the project spaces.
The Scientific School is led by Chief Assist. Prof. Dr. Violeta Shatova (Department of Architecture) and Chief Assist. Prof. Dr. Yavor Zhablyanov (Department of Arts and Design) at NBU. Over 30 students from the Architecture and Interior Design programs have registered to participate, working both individually and in teams.
Students will attend specialized lectures related to the project’s requirements and work on their designs under the guidance of faculty members over the course of six weeks.
At the end of the program, projects will be presented to a jury from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and NBU, and winners will be selected. The top projects will receive cash and material prizes sponsored by corporate partners "Mebeli Videnov", Ideal Standard, and Kai. Additionally, winning students will have the opportunity to contribute to the realization of their designs.
