On March 31st Milko Kovachev - Minister of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria in the period 2001-2005 - gave a guest lecture to the students of the Master's Program “Nuclear Technologies, Management, and Innovations”.

The guest lecture was part of the program of the discipline “Economics and Management of Nuclear Energy”, led by the Director of the Program Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev. The topic of the guest-lecture was “Nuclear Global Revival and Bulgaria's Readiness for Expansion”.

Milko Kovachev was until a few years ago Head of the Nuclear Infrastructure Development Section at the Department of Nuclear Energy (DNE) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. Kovachev has 40 years of experience in policy formulation and reform, project development, design, management and financing in the energy and nuclear energy fields. He has worked for public, commercial and financial institutions in Europe and the Middle East.

Prior to joining the IAEA, he was Vice President, Global Presence, at Rusatom Overseas, the export division of the Russian company Rosatom. From 2010 to 2013, he served as Regional Director for Asia and the Middle East region at Worley Parsons in the UAE. Prior to that, he worked as a Senior Advisor on Energy and Natural Resources at the EBRD in London. He was also an advisor and member of the supervisory board of BNP Paribas Bulgaria. He was Minister of Energy and Energy Resources of Bulgaria in 2001-2005 and Minister of Economy in 2005.
