"The topic of sustainable development is key for the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and the University. Our joint curricula, created in partnership with leaders like KBC Bulgaria, proves it. I thank Mr. Marinov and Mr. Ruben for the opportunity to show that the academy and business can together lead society forward in this process. Our commitment as a university to the achievement of the Global Goals is realized through scientific research, new educational content, a number of partnerships with businesses and institutions and active participation in professional discussions on the subject in Bulgaria and abroad", commented Assoc. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University.

"Today, more than ever, the financial sector has the opportunity to help real businesses achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and move to a carbon-neutral and circular operating model. In this regard, investing in knowledge and understanding of the social, environmental and governance (ESG) aspects of business activities is an extremely important and timely investment. I believe that with the successful end of the pilot edition of the KBC ESG Academy, we give a clear signal that both responsibility towards society and the environment, as well as the search for product/process innovations and successful economic solutions, is a key priority for the management of UBB and the Faculty of Economics" , added Assist. Prof. Marina Stefanova, PhD, Director of the master's program "Responsible and Sustainable Governance".

"As a leading banking and insurance group in Bulgaria, we are aware of the challenges the world is facing. We are expected to set the tone and help our customers on their own path to a sustainable future. But managing this transition is a complex challenge and I am happy that we have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in the field of sustainable management, thanks to projects like this Academy", said Peter Ruben, Country Manager of KBC Group in Bulgaria and CEO of UBB.

"UBB invests long-term in the concept of environmental, social and corporate governance and recognizes the added value of raising awareness on the subject", said Teodor Marinov, leader of the Sustainable Finance program of KBC Group.
