On September 17, 2024, UBB employees received certificates for successfully completing the Sustainable Management Specialist program, organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and "KBC Bulgaria – ESG Academy". This marks the fifth graduating class of the ESG Academy. The Academy covered key modules such as ESG management and reporting, the environmental pillar of sustainability, energy and climate policy, sustainable finance, and climate adaptation and resilience.
Peter Roebben, CEO of UBB, and Frank Jansen, Executive Director and member of the Management Board of the bank, jointly presented certificates to the 29 participants. The event was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, Director of the Master's Program "Responsible and Sustainable Governance" at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
Training sustainable development experts is a way to help the corporate world prepare for the ESG transformation. UBB's management plans to continue the Academy in 2025 as part of their strategy to develop the expertise of their employees and to raise awareness among their clients and society on sustainability topics.
