The Rector of Sofia University, Prof. Anastas Gerdzhikov, and the Chairman of the Management Board of the Institute of Internal Auditors in Bulgaria, Polya Statkova, signed a cooperation agreement between the two institutions.
The meeting was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Boryana Bogdanova, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA), Assoc. Prof. Nadia Sokolova from the Department of Finance and Accounting of FEBA, Ognyan Todorov, a member of the Management Board of the Institute, and Dimitar Neshev - Director of the Institute.
During the conversation, the attendees united around the importance of student internships and opportunities for students and their future employers to meet and learn about their strengths and weaknesses.
According to the agreement, the parties agree to assist each other in training highly qualified specialists in economics, management, finance, accounting and auditing, and analyzing and modeling big data in business by increasing their theoretical knowledge and developing practical skills. It is also planned to update the curricula of the disciplines taught in the bachelor's and master's programs of FEBA, according to the current needs of business, including the introduction of new courses and specialties. The cooperation will enable real cases from practice to be included in the learning process, providing student internships and visits, supporting career guidance, and motivating students from the Faculty.
According to the signed agreement, there will be practical presentations in economics, management, and modeling of big data in business and finance within the framework of cooperation. The Institute will assist organizations from various economic sectors in establishing scholarships for students of FEBA. who wish to develop in the field of internal auditing.
According to the agreement, joint specialized training, round tables, conferences, and other events are planned according to the practice's needs, including in line with the post-graduate qualification of Sofia University.
