On 13 February 2026 at 1:00 PM in Room 420, the Department of Economics held its regular PhD seminar, dedicated to presenting the current progress and research work of the department’s doctoral students.
During the seminar, full-time PhD candidate Pavleta Davidova, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Tsvetan Madanski, PhD, presented the extended outline of her dissertation entitled “Chinese Investments in Bulgaria: Economic Impact and Strategic Dimensions”. Her presentation outlined the main research objectives, methodological approaches, and expected academic contributions related to Bulgarian-Chinese cooperation.
PhD candidate Nino Avreyski, under the supervision of Prof. Vanya Ivanova, PhD, presented the progress achieved on his dissertation titled “Economic Transformation in the Green Transition”. The presentation focused on the economic challenges and opportunities arising from decarbonization processes and sustainable development at both national and regional levels.
Full-time PhD candidate Lyubimka Georgieva, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, PhD, presented the results of her three-month doctoral research, focused on the integration of decentralized electricity generation and consumption from renewable energy sources. In her presentation, Georgieva emphasized her work related to the modeling of energy processes.
Progress on the dissertation of part-time PhD candidate Dilyana Slavova, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Zlatinov, PhD, was also presented. Her dissertation is entitled “EU Trade Policy and Sustainable Development”. The presentation addressed key issues related to the EU–Mercosur trade agreement, as well as the possibilities for applying game theory in the analysis of contemporary trade policies.
During the PhD seminar, an active discussion took place, in which members of the Department of Economics provided recommendations, expert guidance, and constructive feedback to the doctoral students with the aim of further improving their research work and future academic development.
