At an online meeting on 25 March the Sofia University Academic Council elected members of the Board of Trustees of the University. According to Art.35a, para. 5 of the Higher Education Act, five of the Board of Trustees members are elected by the Academic Council at the proposal of the rector. The other three members are selected by the Minister of education and science, by the Mayor of the municipality in which the headquarters of the high school is located, and by the Students’ Council.

 

The education and science minister nominated as his representative in the Board of Trustees CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov.

 

Sofia Municipality appointed as its representative Assoc. Prof. Dr. Todor Chobanov, Deputy Mayor.

 

The Students’ Council elected as its representative Lidiya Daskalova, Vice-Chair of the National Assembly of Students’ Councils.

 

On the Rector`s proposal the Academic Council elected the following five board of trustees members:

 

  • Academician Julian Revalski, Chairman of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
  • Petar Andronov, Chairman of the The Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of United Bulgarian Bank
  • Radoslav Nikolov, Executive director of SAP Labs Bulgaria
  • Lyubomir Lozanov, Executive director of “Ameta Holding”
  • Assoc. Prof. Borislav Velikov, Owner of “Aquachim AD”

Lyubomir Lozanov is a Faculty of Economics and Business Administration alumnus – he has graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He has specialized in corporate finance in the Netherlands and is a certified financial analyst (CFA).

 

Lyubomir Lozanov has worked as an investments expert for the Bulgarian-American Investment Fund, and since 2001 has been executive director of the producer of chicken meat “Ameta” with the brand “Ludogorsko pile”.

 

Since 2015 Lyubomir Lozanov has been working for the development of the private sector in Bulgaria as a board member of the “America for Bulgaria” foundation which supports many initiatives and projects across the country. He has also been offering substantial support for the “Together in Class” initiative.

 

Lozanov has also supported the “Wolves – Razgrad” basketball team since the club was founded. The club`s mission is to revive the basketball tradition in the town, to encourage young and old people toward a healthy lifestyle and to strengthen the bond between the children and parents through basketball.
