On January 18, 2023, Ms. Kristina Taseva-Patrikova, graduate in law and now a lawyer, gave a guest lecture on “Blockchain and cryptocurrencies: a temporary phenomenon or a new stage in the development of the financial sphere?” to the students in the programs “Economics and Finance in English” and “Business Administration in English and German” within the discipline “Corporate Finance”.

In her lecture, the guest speaker analyzes cryptocurrencies with a focus on their economic and legal nature through the lens of practice.

In a combination of practical and theoretical part, Ms. Taseva-Patrikova presented the students with the following aspects of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology:

  • Money history;
  • Economic and legal nature of money;
  • Cryptocurrency market;
  • Tax treatment of cryptocurrency transactions;
  • Application of blockchain technology.
