At the beginning of the new year 2025, CuratedAI's CEO and co-founder Siyanna Lilova delivered a guest lecture at Sofia University, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration as part of the course "Information Technologies and New Business Models", for BA students in their 3rd semester. She outlined the key steps for starting an AI business in the European Union. She emphasized the importance of finding the right co-founder by assessing personal skills, identifying gaps, and exploring founder-matching platforms like Co-Founders Lab. Lilova also highlighted the critical process of idea validation through constant customer engagement, MVP launches, and data-driven testing, encouraging entrepreneurs to remain adaptable and open to pivoting when necessary. On funding strategies, she advised exploring accelerators and recommended leveraging EU and national grants to support early-stage development.

The lecture also explored CuratedAI’s focus on AI-driven solutions for the legal industry, specifically in data protection and privacy compliance. Lilova presented the company’s automation tools for tasks like data processing agreements (DPA) and privacy policy reviews as well as legal research on EU and national official resources. However, she noted significant challenges for law firms in adopting AI due to the still conservative business model, late-adopter mindset, and confidentiality concerns. She shared her observations that in-house legal teams and independent consultants are more open to automation for time- and cost-saving reasons. The event concluded with valuable insights into the evolving legal tech landscape and the potential for AI to reshape the sector.

CuratedAI is a Belgian-based startup specializing in artificial intelligence solutions for data protection compliance. Co-founded by CEO Siyanna Lilova and CTO Luca Campanella, the company aims to be the first AI-native platform that streamlines the entire data protection compliance workflow. Currently, they offer tools for contract reviews, legal research and privacy policy drafting. By automating data protection officer (DPO) responsibilities, CuratedAI aims to simplify compliance with EU regulations and reduce manual workloads for privacy professionals and businesses across Europe.
