The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev participated in the AACSB Deans Global Conference 2025, which gathered over 700 deans from the international network of business schools AACSB. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, also known as AACSB International, is an American professional organization founded in 1916 to provide accreditation to business schools.
This year’s conference edition was held in Las Vegas in the USA between 3 and 5 February 2025. The conference program provided useful information and ideas and was a great opportunity to make new contacts and discuss international collaboration between business school deans.
FEBA received approval for AACSB membership at the end of 2021, and in mid-February 2024 the dean's leadership took the first real step towards accreditation with the submission of an application for eligibility. In early January 2025, FEBA was also visited by its official mentor in the AACSB accreditation process, Prof. Steef van de Velde, former Dean of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in the Netherlands.
Only 6% of the business schools worldwide have AACSB accreditation, which guarantees quality and excellence in economics and management education. The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University is currently a member of the 4 most important networks for business schools worldwide - AACSB, EFMD, GBSN and AMBA. In May 2023, FEBA received the first and only accreditation by AMBA in Bulgaria for its MBA portfolio, becoming one of only 297 business schools in the world with this prestigious accreditation.
