The Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, PhD, has attended the 9th edition of the Global Baku Forum in Azerbaijan in June 2022. Organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center under the patronage of President Ilham Aliyev, the IX Global Baku Forum was held under the motto "Challenges to the Global World Order”. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the Forum.

During the forum, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev participated in several meetings together with the other members of the Leadership Council of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Black Sea (SDSN Black Sea).

Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev met with Prof. Ceyran Mahmudova, Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, and her team, for a discussion “The role of arts in promoting sustainable development and implementing SDGs” and for coordinating future cooperation.

Also, Assoc. Prof. Georgiev met with the Rector of the Azerbaijan Technical University Prof. Vilayat Valiyev (fellow member of the International Association for Energy Economics) for discussing cooperation between FEBA and ATU and later attended the SDSN Black Sea / ATU conference “Water and Energy Security and the UN 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development”.

During the IX Global Baku Forum Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev had a number of bilateral meetings with global political, academic, and business leaders and explored possibilities for internationalization of the programs and initiatives of FEBA. The program of the forum also included a visit to the historical town of Shusha, part of the Karabakh region, which is under reconstruction and development after the decades-long conflict there, which ended in November 2020.
