The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” launches a new multi-year training program for teachers, aimed at integrating sustainable development into secondary and vocational education.

Starting in 2026, a series of postgraduate training courses will be introduced in response to UNESCO’s global priorities and as part of the university’s long-term commitment to the development of education, science, and public policy in Bulgaria.
The main goal of the initiative is to support teachers and educational leaders in integrating topics such as sustainable development, green skills, innovation, and sustainable management into the teaching process in primary and secondary education. The trainings will be practically oriented and will include work on real-life case studies from the business and public sectors.

The program is intended for teachers in vocational high schools, as well as school principals, deputy principals, and experts within the vocational education system. In 2026, two editions of each course are planned, and they will be conducted in a blended format—both online and in person.

Participants who complete the postgraduate qualification courses will receive a certificate and legally recognized credits. The courses cover key topics such as sustainable school management, preparing students for the needs of the green economy, as well as sector-specific modules in areas such as energy, mining, construction, transport, agriculture, tourism, the food industry, textiles, and finance. Leading companies from these industries—including Enery Bulgaria; NEK EAD; Asarel-Medet AD; Boni Holding AD; Glavbolgarstroy Holding AD; HUMANA People to People Bulgaria; Transpress Ltd.; United Bulgarian Bank (UBB) AD; Devin EAD; and Hilton Sofia—will participate by presenting best practices from the real economy.

The training program builds on the expertise of FEBA—the first internationally accredited business faculty in Bulgaria—and includes the participation of leading practitioners, business representatives, and institutional experts. Among the lecturers are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova and Maya Gesheva, as well as guest speakers from various industries.

The initiative aims to create a sustainable link between education, business, and society by preparing teachers to equip students with the skills and mindset needed for successful realization in the context of the green transition.
