On February 17, 2023, the Institute for Economic Research – BAS held an award ceremony for the “Business Models for Circular Economy” competition. The competition was held within the framework of the project “Circular Economy for a Sustainable Future – Civil Society in Bulgaria for the European Green Pact”, implemented by the “Economy 2000” Club with funding from the LIFE Program of the European Union.

First prize in the category “Doctoral students at a university or scientific institute” was awarded to Reni Pancheva, a doctoral student in the department of “Economics and management by industry” of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” for the presented project “ReTray: An intelligent system for separate collection of cigarette butts”.

The received developments from pupils, students and doctoral students from educational institutions on the territory of Bulgaria presented innovative ideas and solutions for the implementation of more circular business practices in Bulgaria's transition from a linear to a circular model of economic development.
