The two discussions held on the opening day brought together representatives from academia, business, and international organisations to explore the challenges of collecting and analyzing ESG data. The event was conducted in a hybrid format and attracted great interest from students and young professionals.

The first discussion, titled “Data for Sustainability – Who, Where, What, How Much”, was held in English and moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova. The panel included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaloyan Kharalampiev from the University Center for Quality, Apostol Dyankov from the ESG Academy, Grigoris Zarotiadis from UN SDSN Black Sea, and expert Ilina Mutafchieva. They presented various perspectives on ESG reporting and emphasized the need for transparent, comparable, and open data. The challenges companies face in collecting information—especially in light of the new European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Standards—were also discussed. Participants agreed that data is not only a tool for accountability but also a source of insight for strategic decision-making.
