The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev took part in the 18th session of the Bulgaria-China Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, held in Sofia on September 16. He presented the activities of the Faculty’s Center for Chinese Economy and Politics and the opportunities for its active involvement in developing bilateral economic relations.
During the 18th session of the Bulgaria-China Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, held in Sofia, discussions focused on boosting trade between Bulgaria and China, as well as expanding Bulgaria’s exports to the Chinese market. The meeting was co-chaired by Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov and the Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China Ling Ji.
This eighteenth session of the Commission was convened after a five-year hiatus, following the last meeting in 2020 before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants also included Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Doncho Barbalov, representatives of ministries, agencies, the National Company Industrial Zones, and experts.
The session covered key areas of cooperation between Bulgaria and China, including trade and investment, transport and communication connectivity, infrastructure, agriculture and food, environmental protection, energy, and tourism.
