On February 3–4, 2026, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, participated in the Аnnual Conference of Deans from Business Schools that are members of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
During the annual conference, titled “New realities, bold choices: Reinventing the business school”, contacts with existing partner universities were strengthened and future joint initiatives were coordinated. The conference topics addressed artificial intelligence, the global responsibilities of universities in times of wars, pandemics, and climate change, the contemporary role of business schools, alumni engagement, and leadership under financial constraints and strategic responsibilities.
The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) was established in 1972. Its network of business schools and corporations is dedicated to improving the quality of management education. The organization brings together a network of 30,000 management professionals from academia and business, providing unique opportunities for information exchange, research collaboration, and broad debates on best practices in management education.
Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, through its Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, is the only higher education institution from Bulgaria in this network, having joined in 2024 when the University’s full membership in EFMD Global was approved. This year’s event was attended by 400 deans and directors from leading business schools worldwide.
