“The future of universities is to work in close cooperation with employers and business leaders”

At the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” developed sound collaboration with business and institutions. Currently, more than 150 bilateral agreements are signed. Within these collaborations students can attend invited lectures by business professionals, work on real world case studies, develop their master thesis on real world projects, and finally, what comes as a natural consequence of all these activities is the industry-funded PhD program.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of FEBA, the role of the business-academic relationships is amplifying: “The future of universities is to work in close cooperation with employers and business leaders to provide the best knowledge and skills that are currently being demanded in the real world and by involving these businesses to support academia in all ways possible.”

Dr. Irem Yaman, Head of Credit risk model validation team at KBC Global Services Branch Bulgaria, is confident on the growing importance for the business to collaborate with the academia: “I think this collaboration has to be always there so that business can be in line with the latest developments done in the technology. The syllabus in this faculty is very much in line with what we do in the business.”

Last, but not least, FEBA students and alumni appreciate the business-academic collaboration as crucial for their career development, fulfillment, and growth.
