The competition for student startup innovation ideas - Innovation Academy – Bulgaria Innovation Hackathon, will be held for the 7th consecutive year on 5-6 June in Sofia. The two-day event, with hackathon elements, is organized by the innovation agency Innovation Starter in partnership with leading universities in Bulgaria and the institutional support of the European Commission.

The project is a winner in the national awards for entrepreneurship in the “Investing in developing Bulgarian students’ entrepreneurial skills” category of the Ministry of Economy in 2019, a runner-up in 2016 and has been awarded an excellence diploma by the European commission as a modern educational project.

 

The big award for the winner`s team in 2019 is 10 000 lv. and a trip to Brussels, support from which is provided by the European Investment Bank and the Representation of the European Commission. Two more ideas will be awarded with special material and financial prizes by the event`s partners.

 

The competition is held as a 24-hour Innovation Hackathon (competition with elements of programming and prototyping). The teams will have the opportunity to develop and present their own ideas on the following topics and subjects:

 

  • Einstein: Natural Sciences - Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Medicine etc.
  • Plato: Humanities - Psychology, Philosophy, Philology, Pedagogy, etc.
  • Aristotle: Social Sciences - Anthropology, Sociology, Government, History, Journalism etc.
  • Musk: Technology and Engineering - Programming, Telecommunications, Electronics, Mechatronics etc.
  • Jobs: Business Administration & Economics - Entrepreneurship, Advertising & Marketing, Management, Finance, Economics etc.
  • Disney: Arts - Architecture, Design, Fine Arts, Music and more.

 

The ideas will be represented to a prestigious jury on 6 June at NPC, “The Quill” Literary club. Preliminary registration for the student teams (up to 5 members) will run from March through to the end of May on the organizers’ website: http://bit.ly/InnovationAcademy2020
