CALL FOR YOUNG SCHOLARS AND POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS
The Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology announces a call for young scholars and postdoctoral fellows within the framework of the National Program "Young Scholars and Postdocs - 2" (https://www.mon.bg/nauka/politiki-i-initsiativi/natsionalni-nauchni-programi/natsionalni-nauchni-programi-odobreni-aktualizirani-2022-g/natsionalna-programa-mladi-ucheni-i-postdoktoranti-2/).
1. Eligibility
Applicants for a Young Scholar position must have obtained their first MA later than 01.04.2015 and applicants for a Postdoctoral position must have obtained their PhD later than 01.04.2020.
The positions for young scholars and postdoctoral fellows employed part-time are intended for full-time faculty members (assistant professors and chief assistant professor).
The places for young scholars and postdoctoral fellows employed full-time are intended for candidates who are not employed by Sofia University full-time.
2. Duties of approved candidates
Approved candidates will be appointed to carry out research on a topic in line with the scientific priorities set out in the NSRF in RB 2017-2030 and the ISIS of RB 2021-2027.
The Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology assigns a priority to: fundamental research case studies: cultural and historical heritage, national identity and cultural development of society, focusing on comparative research in language, literature and culture in general.
Applied research: information and communication technologies, in particular language technologies.
Innovative projects focusing on pure fundamental research in the fields of language, literature, and culture will also be supported.
The applicant proposes a research topic in the form of a project proposal in the professional field 2.1 Philology.
At the end of the contractual period, applicants must submit a report on the project activities (template).
The project proposal and the report will be evaluated by experts - habilitated lecturers working in the same scientific field.
The projects must be carried out over a period of 6 to 10 months, which must be included in the project proposal.

3.4. Scientific research output:
(a) publications;
(b) unpublished papers from scientific conferences;
(c) participation in research projects;

3.6. Evidence-based material (where reliable information is not available online):
● copy of certificates of participation in scientific specializations;
● a copy of certificates of participation in scientific conferences or conference programs which must include the name of the applicant;
● copy of publications;

Deadline for submission of project proposals: 01.08.2024.
4. Phases of competition:
Evaluation: until 14.08.2024.
Notification of results: by the end of August
Recruitment of successful candidates: September 2024.

Points will be awarded for the research output which is most closely related to the topic of the project proposal.
Evaluation of the project proposal
1. Significance of the scientific problem (2-6 points)
2. Originality of the research aim (2-6 points)
3. Topicality and relevance of the theoretical-methodological framework (2-6 pts.)
4. Feasibility of the objective in view of the time frame of the contract (2-6 pts.)
5. Significance of the expected results, including the potential for further development of the project (2-6 points)
6. Dissemination of results:
(a) planned participation in a national scientific conference* with anonymous peer review of the submissions and with the possibility of subsequent publication of the papers - 5 pts.
(b) planned participation in an international scientific conference with anonymous peer review of the applications and with the possibility of subsequent publication of the papers - 8 pts.
(c) planned publication of an article** in a scientific periodical not indexed in scientific databases - 7 pts.
(d) Planned publication of an article in a scientific journal that is indexed in scientific metrics databases - 10 pts.
Minimum 40 points
* Conference participation must be reported at the end of the contract with a submitted paper if the conference took place within the contract period, or with an abstract approved for participation if the conference will take place after the contract period ends.
**Planned publication of an article shall be reported at the end of the contract with the text of the article accepted for peer review in a scientific periodical.
