The teams of NSA "Vasil Levski", UNWE, SU "St. Kliment Ohridski" and Medical University – Sofia reached the final phase of the competition. The matches were held in a round-robin format. The NSA team had a strong lineup and deservedly won the gold medals. After extremely competitive matches and exchanges of wins and losses between the teams of SU, UNWE and MU, the final ranking for the women is:
1st place – NSA "Vasil Levski"
2nd place – UNWE
3rd place – SU "St. Kliment Ohridski"
4th place – MU (Sofia)
The team of Sofia University was mainly composed of first-year students – eight players, two second-year students, one fifth-year student and one master's programme student from the Faculty of Economics. Despite the youth and lack of competitive experience at this level, the basketball players of SU demonstrated strong character, great willingness to play and excellent team spirit. The team was on the verge of winning the silver medals, but in the decisive moments it was the inexperience of the young squad that had an impact, and the team suffered a loss to MU (Sofia) after defeating the strong team of UNSS the previous day. Thus, the match between UNSS and MU decided the final ranking with a points difference between the three teams. The bronze medals won are a valuable success and a serious statement for the team's future achievements.
Congratulations to the players, the coaching staff, the management of the Department of Sport, and the University Rectorate.
