For another year, the Sports Department at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" is organising competitions for students from the 16 faculties, including Erasmus students, in 13 sports including badminton, 3x3 basketball, volleyball, judo "shiai", athletics, mini football, swimming, skiing, sport climbing, tennis, table tennis, fencing, and fitness disciplines. The faculty that accumulates the most points from all competitions wins the Rector's Cup of SU – 2026. In 2026, tournaments in all sports took place from 1 to 30 April. Only the skiing competitions were held in February. More than 800 students participated in the competitions across the 13 sports.
The undisputed winner is the Faculty of Law, having scored 2030 points. The rest of the ranking is as follows:

After the conclusion of each competition, the winners were awarded medals and certificates provided by the rectorate, and after calculating the final results, the Director of the Department of Sports and Chairman of the University Sports Club – Prof. Dr. Georgi Ignatov, personally awarded the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ventsislav Petrov with the "Rector's Cup" for first place, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev with the cup for second place, and the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education – Prof. DSc Georgi Raynovski with the cup for third place.
Prof. Georgi Ignatov expressed his admiration for the performance of all the students. He added that the University educates not only excellent students but also many talented athletes and expressed hope that all faculties will introduce sports as a compulsory discipline so that students from Alma Mater can improve their physical fitness and thus adapt even more successfully to modern life and their professional careers.
