From 16 to 19 March 2026, in Pamporovo Resort, the "University Winter Games" and "Winter University 2026" took place – one of the most significant student sports events in the country, organised by the Association for University Sport and the National Representation of Student Councils (NPSC). The forum brought together nearly 550 participants from over 30 higher education institutions.
Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" reports its exceptionally successful participation with particular pride, culminating in the prestigious 3rd place in the overall ranking.
The university representatives demonstrated high sporting skill and achieved a number of award-winning placements:
In the snowboarding discipline, the women's team consisting of Yanitsa Ivanova, Stefani Valeva and Dimana Parvanova won 1st place as a team, while in the individual ranking Yanitsa Ivanova took 3rd place, Stefani Valeva – 4th place, and Dimana Parvanova – 7th place. In the men's competition, the team with Nikolay Dimchev, Martin Yordanov, Boris Danchev and Alexander Botyov placed 5th.
In the cross-country skiing – relay, the men's team (Stanislav Grabchev and Kristian Bozhilov) won 3rd place, and the women's team (Yoana Nikolova and Yordanka Yoncheva) placed 4th.
In alpine skiing – giant slalom, Stefani Valeva won 3rd place individually. In the team ranking for women (Stefani Valeva, Yana Keskinova, Marina Popova and Yana Todorova) 5th place was taken, and for men (Boyan Vakliev, Sava Komitski, Vasil Dichev and Simeon Penev) – 6th place.
Within the National University Ski Rally Championship, Stefani Valeva took 3rd place among women, and Kristian Bozhilov ranked 5th among the men.
The results achieved are proof of the high level of preparation, perseverance and dedication of the students, who represented Sofia University with distinction and reinforced its place among the leading higher education institutions in Bulgaria.
