The University of Cologne and the St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia invite applications for a one-week, online workshop in EpiDoc (epidoc.stoa.org) and digital epigraphy. EpiDoc is a leading standard for the digital encoding of ancient inscriptions, papyri and other primary and documentary texts in TEI XML for online publication and interchange. The workshop will cover the encoding of ancient texts in EpiDoc-XML and introduce the EFES platform (github.com/EpiDoc/EFES) for viewing and publishing EpiDoc editions.

The workshop will be held online from September 27 to October 1, 2021 and will involve asynchronous tutorials as well as real-time sessions and hands-on exercises guided by a tutor. No preexisting technical knowledge is required, but participants are expected to be familiar with the transcription conventions for inscriptions (“Leiden”), and either Greek, Latin or other ancient languages of their epigraphic tradition.

To apply for a place on this workshop, please fill out this form (https://forms.gle/U6GY61sMSXWxLS449) by August 31, 2021. Applicants will be informed of acceptance shortly after the deadline.
