GATE Institute is looking for an active and result-oriented Expert Business development (European and other programs and initiatives) to enhance and develop further business opportunities for international and national research cooperation and funding of GATE research and innovation activities from public EU and national sources.

As an Expert Business development (European and other programs and initiatives) at GATE, you will be responsible for further development and expansion of GATE ecosystem with EU and other international organizations, academic institutions, research partners and associations.

You will manage the business development process from opportunity identification and research, through establishing and developing further the first contact to drafting a research project proposal in cooperation with other GATE departments and teams.

The ideal candidate for this role should demonstrate exceptional business development results, superb interpersonal skills, multi-tasking abilities, and excellent time-management.

The noteworthy Expert Business development (European and other programs and initiatives) should enhance the GATE ecosystem with valuable strategic partners and effectively deliver on GATE financing from public sources.

Responsibilities:

  • Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop business opportunities for public funding of research and innovation activities.
  • Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes in the business development and project planning, management and reporting of research and innovation projects funded by European and national public sources.
  • Research and identify new business and partnership opportunities in the European and national public sectors - including new trends, growth areas, funding programs, partnerships.
  • Seek out the appropriate contact in public and corporate organisations of interest, generate leads and prospective partners, meet with face to face or over the phone, foster and develop relationships with prospected partners and stakeholders.
  • Have a good understanding of the GATE research and innovation areas and capabilities and be able to present and advise others about them.
  • Understand the needs of GATE stakeholders and partners and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
  • Be able to draft research project proposals in cooperation with researchers and other GATE experts, liaise with the administration, finance, and legal teams as appropriate.
  • Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate and train members of business development and research teams in new trends and programs, arranging external training.
  • Discuss promotional strategy and activities with PR and Event management and seek ways of enhancing GATE image and ecosystem.
  • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the applied research and its business aspects.

 

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience at a similar job position.
  • Degree in Information technologies, Public/Business administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field is preferred.
  • Additional specialization in planning, management, and reporting of projects with EU and national public funding is an advantage.
  • Established international and national business network and personal contacts in the public domain will be considered as a strong advantage.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Team player with great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong self motivation, result-orientation, organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation skills when dealing partners and contractors.
  • Time-management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
