The link between history and memory in the postcolonial and postcommunist societies is the focus of Prof. Zhevsievitski's research. The head of the Department of Comparative History of Memory at Quebec described the two approaches towards past - the historic approach, which is legitimized by the state; and the memory approach, in which the individual is the author.
