Sofia University Botanic Garden staff has the most important and elaborate tasks this season: to expose the collection of cacti and succulent plants again in the open. This is what is the Garden famous for and is second in size in Europe.

This was the first year for the Garden to be open during the winter season with a permanent exhibition of tropical and sub-tropical plant collection. More than 2500 cacti and succulent plants were presented, most of the rare and protected species. Part of this exposition are the oldest and biggest cacti, planted permanently.

Apart from the cacti, this year's visitors can enjoy the carpets of spring flowers, especially the 120 kinds of tulips of all colours and forms.
