The Rector met the Ambassador of Mongolia

Ambassador Lhamsuren Dugerzhav

Prof. Ilchev welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia in Bulgaria Lhamsuren Dugerzhav and the Advisor with the Embassy of Mongolia Dashdorzh Ganbold. The main focus of the visit was further development of the Bulgarian-Mongolian relations in the field of education.

The higher education development in Mongolia and Bulgaria was discussed, as well as the opportunities for further development of the bilateral cooperation in the field, the enhanced interest of Mongolian students for Bulgarian higher education, as well as the forthcoming establishment of a Cultural Centre with the Embassy in Sofia.

Prof. Ilchev announced the opportunities the foreign students are provided by Sofia University to study in 36 specialities in English. One of the most popular is the Bachelor's Degree programme of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology "European Union and European Integration". A Master's Degree programme of the same speciality is under development, and another such has already been established: "Cultural Liaisons and Geopolitics of the European Union".

A new trans-department programme of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology "South, South-East and East Asia" starts for the academic 2013/1014. The Faculty of Physics starts a new Bachelor's Degree programme in English "Nuclear Physics", and the speciality "Medicine" is provided in English as well, starting this academic year.
