Sofia University and Foundation America for Bulgaria signed an agreement for renovation of Auditorium 272

Prof. Ivan Ilchev, the Rector, Prof. Sasho Penov, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Desislava Taliokova, Executive Director of the America for Bulgaria Foundation signed an agreement for redecoration and equipment of the 272 Auditorium.

The renovation of one of the most important auditoria in the oldest university in Bulgaria is one of the many projects which Foundation America for Bulgaria supports in acknowledgement of the important role Sofia University and the Faculty of Law have in establishing education and science in Bulgaria.

Foundation America for Bulgaria provided the main part of the project funding, BGN 1.2 mln. Foundation "120 years Faculty of Law at Sofia University" gives another BGN 150 000 collected as donations by Faculty of Law alumni. Sofia University gives BGN 150 000 for the grand renovation as well.

The donation will support the teaching of law and international relations, the gathering of the Faculty of Law alumni; it will encourage post graduation specializations and Master's Degree programmes in law and international relations, as well as the research, science and exchange of knowledge and experience between Sofia University and Bulgarian and foreign HGOs.

The Rector noted that the agreement is one of the many huge donations by the Foundation, he thanked for the support in renovating some of the most significant halls in the University. He also noted that this support is highly appreciated as the investment funding has been severely reduced for several years now.

Desislava Taliokova, Executive Director of the America for Bulgaria, expressed the hope that after the renovation of 272 Auditorium, which is one of Sofia University symbols, it will attract minds from around the world. She noted that the Foundation has been actively working on many joint projects with Sofia University, such as equipping a new phonetic lab for the Faculty of Classical and Modern Languages.
