Conference on Mathematical Logic in memory of Prof. Ivan Soskov

On the eve of Prof. Ivan Soskov's 60th anniversary the Department of Mathematical Logic and Application organized a conference on Mathematical Logic in his memory. The conference was in the Gyolechica, September 19-22.

Among the guests were Prof. Yiannis Moschovakis, UCLA, and Prof. Barry Cooper, University of Leeds, both Doctor Honoris Causa of Sofia University. The topics discussed were connected to the works of Ivan Soskov. He proved many beautiful results, but more importantly he was a theory builder who introduced many new notions that are relevant today. His contributions to computability theory are deep and will continue to bear fruit long after his death, as will his contributions to the logic group in Bulgaria and to the computability theory community around the world.
