THE MISSION OF THE FACULTY

The Faculty of Education is the actual successor of the first Bulgarian Higher Pedagogical Course established in 1888 and considered as the date of birth of the Bulgarian higher education and the very start of the foundation of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. There are more than a 1000 native and foreign students studying at the faculty. Their broad interdisciplinary humanitarian proficiency opens them the best possible opportunities for a successful further career in all the types of educational and social institutions and services.

DEGREE COURSES

The Faculty of Education offers BA, MA and PhD in: Education, Social Work and Non-formal Education degree courses. The full-time BA student program is four years long while the part-time one is five years long. The students graduate after successfully passed written theoretical exam (or BA thesis or project pass) and professional practice exam. Graduates can continue their education in MA degree in Faculty of Education as well as in other faculties.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students who are not Bulgarian citizens apply for study according to the admission requirements and enrolment conditions for foreign student education stated in the “St. Kliment Ohridski” Activities and Structure Regulation. PARRALEL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIESThe Faculty of Education students have different opportunities for additional to the basic course training. There are such types of programmes as: second higher BA or MA degree course, optional training, second qualification degree, free faculties, summer courses and schools in Bulgaria and abroad, etc.

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT IN FUNDAMENTAL AND APPLIED RESEARCH PROJECTS

Following the classic university principle of unity of study and research the Faculty of Education has always ensured good opportunities to its students for participation in fundamental and applied social research team or individual projects. Assisted by their professors and supported by state and non-government organizations that concentrate their activities in the fields of education and social work the students can apply for and realize their own individual projects granted by the Faculty of Education and the Sofia University Fund or by non-profit organizations.
