On March 24 and 25, the Utilities magazine and the Center for Educational Services (CEC) at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” conducted an online training titled “Balancing market and electricity trading”. The course was attended by 37 representatives of energy and industrial companies, as well as students and PhD students. The training is part of the initiatives related to the master's program "Energy Markets and Services" at FEBA, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".

The training was designed for managers and experts who want to deepen their knowledge of the electricity market and in particular the balancing market.

Participants in the online training learned more about the challenges facing the European electricity system in terms of harmonization and integration of rules between regions.

Information was presented on how electricity traders include price imbalances, how imbalances are managed and how processes will change when small businesses enter the market.

The training included lectures and open discussions with the participants.

Lecturers in the training were:

  • Ivan Ivanov, Director of Budgeting, Products and Pricing at Energo-Pro;
  • Ida Yordanova, Analyst, EVN Trading South East Europe;
  • Nikolay Gavazki, Head of Forecasting and Balancing Groups Department, CEZ Electro Bulgaria;
  • Petromil Petropavlov, Engineer, Power Engineer “Balancing Market”, Electricity Market Department, ESO EAD;
  • Stefan Margenov, Electricity Trader, Axpo Group;
  • Chavdar Doichinov, Head of Strategic Planning, Ritam-4-TB.
