Dr. Simona Veleva will present a guest lecture on December 13th (10:00-14:00) at hall 215 within the course “Corporate and Financial Law” in the bachelor's program “Accounting, Finance and Digital Applications” in English, thanks to the invitation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savina Mihailova-Goleminova.

The following topics will be presented:

  • Data protection legislation in the European Union and Bulgaria. GDPR and EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. Main Concepts;
  • Intellectual Property Rights. International, European and National legislation. Main Concepts. Patents. Trademarks. Copyright. Procedures.

 

About the guest lecturer:

Simona Veleva is a PhD in the field of Constitutional law from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and a lawyer. She works in the field of media and constitutional law, digital rights and human rights. She is Assist. Prof. at the American University in Bulgaria. Author of numerous legal publications.

Under her editorship were published the translations with the latest amendments of the Italian, Spanish, Portuguese Constitutions, the Basic Law of Germany, the practice of the Federal Constitutional Court of the Federal Republic of Germany and others. She consults the Supreme Bar Council, CITUB, committees in the 44th (2019) and 46th National Assembly (2021).

Simona Veleva is a member of the IMEUS Institute for Mediation and Dispute Management. She is an expert at the International Digital Freedom Fund. She has implemented a number of successful projects, such as “Children in Focus in the Judiciary”, “Legal Balancer - Online Access to Justice” and others. She is a part of Forbes 30under30 for 2019 and member of the Council for Electronic Media. Simona Veleva speaks English, German and Russian.
