On September 11, 12, 13 the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University hosted the Second Summer School of “Management in Energy” – a joint certificate course of the “Utilities” journal and the Educational Services Centre at FEBA, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
The summer school was held with the assistance of:
- Total Exploration & Production Bulgaria – general sponsor;
- AES Bulgaria – sponsor
24 participants – representatives of energy companies, industrial enterprises, energy service providers as well as doctoral students and students - took part in the training.
The lectures on the training programme were presented by:

The aim of the summer school is to offer the participants from the energy sector quality post-graduation training, including up-to-date information on the foundations, practices and developments in the context of the current challenges in the management of energy sector.
During both days of the training the main focus of the lectures was:
- Energy transition in Bulgaria
- Decarbonisation and / or fresh air: Dreams and realities in energy
- Energy companies and energy services
- Cybersecurity challenges in the energy sector
- The electricity market in Bulgaria and in Southeast Europe
- Development of the gas market in Bulgaria and the region
- Changes in and around the distribution networks and the new trends in their management
- What is Machine Learning and what are its applications in the energy sector?
- Regulation of electricity companies
- Project financing in the energy sector
Some of the school attendees also enrolled in the "Energy Markets and Services" Master's program for training in 2019/2020. The master's program is offered in a 2-semester part-time form for specialists and non-specialists, for the first time this year and builds on the experience of the previous program, which took a broader look at utility services.
