Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eleonora Stancheva-Todorova is a lecturer at the Department of Finance and Accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University "Sv. Kliment Ohridski". She is the director of the Master's program "Accounting and Audit", accredited by the international professional organization ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), and of the innovative interdisciplinary Master's program Finance, Accounting and Analysis of Big Data". Dr Stancheva-Todorova is also responsible for the accreditation of the BSc Accounting, Finance, and Digital Applications with English language teaching program delivered by the ICAEW (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). Her research interests are in accounting theory, financial accounting, international standardization of corporate reporting, the application of technological innovation in accounting, and sustainability reporting.

The monograph "Contemporary Issues in Accounting. The Accounting Education" focuses on contemporary issues of accounting education in the country and worldwide, analyzed through the lens of the impact of new technologies and sustainability. Approaches to implementing big data analytics and artificial intelligence in accounting curricula and programs are presented. Issues related to sustainability reporting and its impact on accounting education in higher education institutions are also within the scope of this study and motivate its relevance in the context of Industry 4.0 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. A personal experience related to the implementation of the Accounting Bissim business simulation in the Financial Accounting and Reporting course is shared, which can be used as good practice by other higher education institutions in our country.

The monograph is intended for all those interested in the ongoing transformations in accounting education in the country and around the world. The knowledge and competencies required of accounting graduates continue to increase, and accounting education needs to be adapted accordingly to meet the new challenges in the labor market.
