The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and the Faculty of Physics at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” actively participated with a joint exhibition booth at the Annual International Nuclear Conference titled “Small Modular Reactors and Advanced World Technologies for Industrial Applications” organized by the Bulgarian Energy and Mining Forum and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria. The event took place on April 10 and 11 at the Balkan Palace Hotel in Sofia.

At the Sofia University booth, special attention was given to the new joint master's program between the two faculties — “Nuclear Technologies, Management, and Innovations” — which received accreditation from the International Atomic Energy Agency at the end of 2024. Other bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at Sofia University in the field of nuclear energy were also presented, highlighting the role of both faculties in preserving nuclear knowledge.

Students from the Faculty of Physics — Ani Toskovа, Antonia Kushleva, and Venko Grigorov — as well as Petar Tuhchiev from the Faculty of Chemistry, actively engaged with visitors alongside the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, and the program’s co-director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Plamen Petkov, informing them about the educational opportunities at Sofia University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, who is also co-director of the nuclear master’s program, participated in the conference program as a moderator in one of the sessions of the first panel. On stage, he held a discussion with the Executive Director of the Electricity System Operator (ESO) EAD, Eng. Angelin Tsachev, on topics such as national electricity system security, the role of renewable energy sources, energy storage facilities, and small modular reactors in balancing energy loads.
