Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" will take part in the prestigious Global Sustainable Development Congress, which will be held in Istanbul from June 15 to 19, 2025. The Congress brings together over 2,000 participants from around the world, including representatives of universities, research institutes, businesses, NGOs, and public institutions. The forum aims to create a global platform for the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and innovations that support sustainable development and the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Sofia University's participation in the Congress is a recognition of its active role in the field of sustainability. The university is one of Bulgaria’s leading educational institutions integrating sustainability principles into its academic programs, research activities, and campus policies. In recent years, various initiatives have been implemented related to green technologies, social engagement, sustainable resource management, and interdisciplinary projects in partnership with local and international organizations.
The coordination of Sofia University’s participation in the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2025 is entrusted to the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, which plays a key role in advancing sustainability policies within the university. The Faculty actively promotes an interdisciplinary approach to sustainable development through its undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, as well as through scientific research and collaboration with business and the public sector. During the Congress, representatives of the Faculty will present best practices and research achievements in the areas of sustainable management, circular economy, and ESG policies, highlighting the university’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
