The Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) has signed a cooperation agreement with Sofia University in the fields of economics, innovation, and corporate sustainability. Dr. Boyko Takov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University, outlined the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation and future initiatives.

"The opportunity to be involved in the training of highly qualified specialists will be crucial both for the students and for our Agency, which can contribute to the fields of science and education. Economic development depends on the well-prepared professionals entering the labor market, and I believe that together with you, we will work in-depth on economic topics, corporate sustainability, and innovation", said Dr. Takov.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, who is also the Head of the Department of Industrial Economics and Management, stated that cooperation with BSMEPA could be beneficial in the students’ educational process. "Participation in lectures and content related to our key topics – entrepreneurship, the general economic environment, and investments", he emphasized as the main initiatives.

The collaboration between BSMEPA and Sofia University will provide opportunities for student internships, career guidance, and motivation for students from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The Executive Director of BSMEPA also spoke about upcoming projects in which students will have the chance to participate through internship programs or additional training. "The project for Northern Bulgaria, implemented in cooperation with the World Bank, is expected to start very soon. BSMEPA will conduct various initiatives and training programs in which students can participate to gain experience, acquire practical knowledge, and be professionally prepared for their careers. Additionally, an upcoming cross-border cooperation project with Serbia will offer training programs, with a focus on circular economy and how you can get involved in these activities", said Dr. Takov. In response, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev stated that they would consider the possibility of joining the project.

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration introduced Dr. Takov to the renovated facilities and modern technological classrooms, where 1800 students are currently studying. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgiev also presented the showcase with the Faculty's awards and certificates.
