On April 2, 2024, at 4 p.m. in Room 420 at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrey Vasilev will give a public lecture on the topic "The Influence of Demographic Processes on the Development of the Bulgarian Economy: Approaches to Modeling and Open Questions".
The lecture will discuss possible approaches to forecasting the educational structure and economic activity of the population based on demographic forecasts for Bulgaria. Variants for modeling the dynamics of GDP in the long term will be presented using forecast distributions of the population by educational levels and labor market status. Different possibilities for extending and modifying the presented analytical framework will be discussed.
The topic of the public lecture falls within the scope of the research project "Adapting the Labour Market to Socio-economic Dynamics, Technological Modernization, Demographic Change, and Educational Restructuring in the Context of Euro Area Membership", implemented through the Scientific Research Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science, and the research project "The Impact of Demographic Dynamics on the Labor Market: Assessing Effects on Key Macroeconomic Indicators and Application to Bulgaria", funded as part of the "Sofia University Marking Momentum For Innovation and Technological Transfer (SUMMIT)" project.
