FOR THE SECOND TIME AT THE FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

THE ISRAELI TECHNOLOGICAL MODEL

PROF. RAFI GLICK – GUEST-LECTURER FROM

BEN GURION UNIVERSITY

Elective course in English for all Bachelor programs –

30 hour lectures, 2 ETCS credits

 

The course will be held in module format from 10 to 17 of October 2016.

The training is interactive, 3 hours lectures, then individual work in groups at home. The course/workshop offers contacts to companies in Israel, solving real case studies, preparation of agreement for cooperation and exchange of students. 15 startup companies from Israel, including VC4YOU.COM (operating in 45 countries) have expressed their willingness to cooperate. Provided is a collaboration with TEL AVIV GLOBAL MAYOR OFFICE (Tel Aviv-Yafo is twin city of Sofia and Yafo region is called the City of the Bulgarians). In Tel Aviv there are about 1,000 start-ups and about 45 accelerators.

 

Meetings 1-3:

- Teams investigate the partner organization, conducting additional meetings with partner, present project focus and scope to partner.

- Establish reporting procedures and expectations, write a case or strategic assessment paper for the mentor and create project plan including project focus and scope, background, research design, methodologies, and schedule.

- The teams will present the project plans in class meeting.

 

Meetings 4-6:

- Teams collect, analyse and interpret data; develop and evaluate strategic options, conduct the internal and external environment, and analyse the companies and their environment;

- Teams prepare midterms reports including environment analysis, strategic options, next phase recommendations and action items.

- Teams submit the midterm report to mentors and to partners and present it in the partner’s facilities and class meeting.

- Final paper' submitting (date will be announced):

Teams prepare final reports including analysis, conclusions, recommendations and action plan.

- Teams present final reports to the teacher

 

"The Israeli Technological Model" launched at Sofia University on 22.2.2016 and took place during 2 weeks in daily meetings in February-March 2016. Final reports were submitted in June 2016. The next course will be launched in October 2016.

The University of Sofia is number one University in Bulgaria and on top 300 Universities in Europe.
During the Course students learn the Ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation via the personal contact with companies in Israel and in Bulgaria, learn to know the market and give some applied suggestions in addition to tailor made frontal lectures.

The course will give students recognition, learning, contacts and experiences with the resources, processes and the people who were involved in the technology, innovations and entrepreneurship achievements.

The course also recognized by Guilford Glazer School of Business and Management - Ben Gurion University in the Negev and will be offered for Israeli students and foreign students in BGU students exchange program.

Recently the University of Sofia and Ben Gurion University in the Negev –Israel signed a memorandum of understanding to encourage exchange of knowledge and cooperation between the two universities.

During the course each group of 4 students will be in contact with partner organization in order to get first hand of " technological experience". At the same time the partner organization will be able to explore opportunities and resources in other markets and to be presented in the front of the global academic arena.

The contact with the students will be 4-5 times during the course and the final paper and presentations will be submitted to partner organization.

We strongly believe that by combined academic Course with Applied workshop will bring success stories and enhancing technological cooperation.

Rafi Glick, Senior Teaching Associate of Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel) has launched the open elective, “The Israeli Technological Model” course for Bachelor students on February 2, 2016.
As ambassadors to enhancing entrepreneurship and innovation, students of this course will learn the ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation via the personal contact with companies in Israel, learn the market and give some applied suggestions
