Irena Mladenova, PhD is Chief Assistant Professor at the Business Administration Department, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) of the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
She defended her doctoral dissertation on “Organizational capacity for change, adaptability and organizational performance” at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, FEBA. Master in Business Administration at FEBA, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and Master in Banking and Entrepreneurship (New Europe Master joint programme of the University of Udine, Fondazione Cassamarca and Unicredit Group, Italy).
Research interests: organizational change and development, organizational culture, management, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, marketing.
Irena has over 20 years of experience in the private and public sector of which 6 years at international management consultancies (Kearney, PwC) managing and delivering projects for regional and local leaders in Eastern European countries. She managed projects for structuring and restructuring processes (production, marketing, administration), procurement costs optimization strategies, analysis and optimization of product portfolio, assessment and planning of new products launch, and new markets entry. Her experience includes the development and implementation of new organizational structure and strategy, the development of tactical and business plans. She participated in several business potential assessments (commercial due diligence) as part of merger and acquisition deals both on the buyer and seller sides. She served as Head of Corporate Development and a member of the managing board on the group level for a regional energy services company. Irena worked 5 years in the public sector in Bulgaria as an advisor at the Ministry of Economy and the Administration of the President, as well as a deputy minister of economy at three caretaker governments (2013, 2014, and 2021). She is a practicing management consultant.
