CURRICULUM

 

The three-semester master's program in Biophysical Chemistry in Medicine and Pharmacology is eligible to students with a Bachelor’s degree from the faculties of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Biology, and Physics of St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia as well as related fields in natural sciences and technology from all Bulgarian universities.

The master's program aims to upgrade the bachelor’s level knowledge and skills in modern fields of chemical, physical and biological sciences with relevance and application in modern medicine and pharmacology.

The master’s program has been developed jointly by experts from the faculties of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Physics, and Biology of St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, as well as the institutes of Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, and Solid-State Physics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The program is also open to other institutions which work in this interdisciplinary scientific field of natural science.

Upon graduation, Masters in Biophysical Chemistry will be able to carry out research and technological development, analytical, and industrial activities in the interdisciplinary field of biophysical chemistry and in particular: fundamental and applied research in nanomedicine and nanogalenics; introduction of basic research results into industrial applications; development of new and advancement of existing technologies; development, improvement, adaptation, and application of new and existing methods of analysis and characterization of specific biologically active substances and biocompatible materials for diagnosis, therapy, etc.

Masters in Biophysical Chemistry can find professional realization in research institutes and laboratories, in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, and biomedical industries, hygiene and epidemiology, metrological, and other reference laboratories, medical and dental hospitals, veterinary and agricultural institutes, environmental inspectorate agencies, and others.
