The length of the education in all programmes is eight semesters (four years) for full-time education and ten semesters (five years) for part-time education. Students study fundamental biological, chemical, physical, mathematical, economical and geological and geographical subjects with a focus on the biological ones. Along with the compulsory subjects, a substantial number of elective subjects are available in the curriculum. Students are able to choose between them according to their special interests. Field and lab practices are compulsory for all specialties. Acquired knowledge assessment is based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). A diploma is given at the end of the education after a state exam or thesis defense. After completion of the bachelor’s degree, graduates are given the opportunity to extend their education in one of the numerous master’s degree programmes.
