Workshop on Artificial Intelligence Systems Ethical and Responsible Expert Recommendations, WAISERER organised by ConsuWAIS lab

The ConsuWAIS lab led by prof. dr. Svetlana Bialkova organised the Workshop on Artificial Intelligence Systems Ethical and Responsible Expert Recommendations, WAISERER during the 6th International Conference on Human-Machine Systems, ICHMS2026, hosted by NTU in Singapore.

The workshop aims at fostering discussion and bringing advance understanding on challenges and opportunities for AI topics in contexts and scenarios going beyond research laboratories and specialist environments. We continue successful themes from ConsuWAIS project inviting discussion on new trends related to AI and (manipulative) digital marketing practices.

1-1

These practices have been amplified through algorithmic systems and personalised recommendations, opening new business opportunities, but at the same time unlocking risks concerning rights and well-being of consumers. Therefore, the areas of interest of current workshop focus on (but are not limited to) the challenges of designing and implementing AI applications for ordinary environments, respecting user rights and free will. Tracking manipulative practices real life, real time is a further endeavour. Obstacles might be commonplace and deficit of explainability of AI (XAI) system in use are calling for thorough investigation.

WAISERER workshop addresses above challenges looking for new trends and appropriate solutions in building advanced AI systems to safeguard consumers.

1-2

The workshop started with the keynote talk “Toward AI compliance: The role of performance feedback” by prof. dr. John Dong (NTU).

Two presentations by ConsuWAIS lab highlighted:

  • “A Taxonomy of AI enabled Tourism: Engineering the new era of responsible systems integration”
  • “Explainable AI: Lifting Satisfaction and Future Use”

We continued with a round table ”Artificial Intelligence Systems Ethical and Responsible Expert Recommendations”.

The workshop attracted great interest and provoked discussion among panelists and the audience along the intriguing topic of how to build advanced AI systems that are ethically sound.
