A Prestigious Global Ranking Takes Sofia University to Top Position for the Attraction of Its Graduates to Employers

According to the 23rd September, 2021 QS Graduate Employability Rankings for 2022 Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski? Is ranked in the 301-500 position interval.

The ranking focusing on the possibility of university graduates to find employment aims at comparing results of alumni by taking into account the academic institution’s reputation amongst employers, the stimulation of high achievers by the universities, the links between the universities and the companies, and the attractiveness of recent university graduates to the employers.

788 universities have been selected for ranking in this year’s QS, and only the 550 top institutions were included in the rating.

 

The ranking makes use of five indicators: reputation amongst employers, alumni results, partnerships with employers, employer – student links, and the level of employment of fresh graduates.

The reputation indicator among employers is given the highest weight – 30% and is based on employers’ responses, the latter identifying the universities wherefrom they select the most competent, well prepared and effective graduates. On this scale, Sofia University ranks 301+.

The indicator of alumni results has 25% of weight. A university that holds high the careers of its alumni creates successful graduates. On this scale, Sofia University takes the 150 position.

The partnership with employers indicator is also given 25%. It is based on the Elsevier Scopus database and identifies the cooperation between universities and companies in terms of citation and transformative science product. On this indicator, Sofia University occupies the 201+ position.

The employer – student links and the level of employment indicators yield 10% each and Sofia University is placed 201+, respectively. These indicators include separate employers who actively participate in campus activities, and provide motivated students with the possibilities of networking and obtain relevant information. The presence of the employers enhances the possibilities of students to get internships at the beginning of their careers and creates research venues. This final indicator shows the number of graduates employed in the 12-month period prior to their graduation.
