GATE is a joint initiative between Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden and Chalmers Industrial Technology, Sweden. GATE develops research capacity and potential in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, cultivating the next generation of leading scientists by expanding the existing research network and establishing long-term agreements with leading global organizations. The Institute builds sustainable stakeholder relationships, focusing on technological collaboration between government, industry, academia and non-governmental organizations towards Artificial Intelligence and smart decision-making models.

Experienced Researcher

Research group: Data Analytics

 

The Data Analytics team at GATE creates novel and utilizes existing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods to support the work in our application domain Digital Health. To achieve our goals, we work with leading academic institutions in EU, UK and US and we also participate in a broad network of industry partners.

To expand our team, we are looking for experienced Data Scientists that are interested not only in applying existing ML and AI methods to various problems in academia and the industry, but also in developing novel approaches to such problems.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Researches and analyses the landscape of innovative approaches that could significantly contribute to scientific goals of GATE in the field of advanced data analytics, applied to the four application domains at GATE: Digital Health, Future Cities, Intelligent Government and Smart Industry;
  • Contributes to high-quality scientific publications;
  • Prepares presentations to communicate research results at national and international scientific conferences and industry events;
  • Participates in the implementation of existing and the design of novel Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence algorithms in the context of GATE projects;
  • Performs individual and collaborative research in the area of ML and AI;
  • Participates in the development of strong relationships with external key stakeholders;
  • Engages in continuous professional development and participates in various events for learning and knowledge exchange;

 

Requirements:

  • PhD in one of the following areas: Data Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field. Alternatively, a Master's degree in one of these fields and at least 4 years of experience in this field in industry or academia;
  • Very good Python or MATLAB programming skills and basic C++ programming skills (optional).
  • Hands-on Python experience using: scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, H2O, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas or other data analysis libraries;
  • Interests in working on interdisciplinary research projects involving participants from different organizations and nationalities;
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills, prioritizing of tasks, motivation to discover new approaches in AI development;
  • Fluency in English;

Stages of the contest:

1.The Selection Committee reviews the documents, submitted by the candidates and selects those meeting the requirements of the job, as described in the job profile. The selected candidates will be informed by 29th December 2023.

2.Interviews will be held with the selected applicants until 3rd January 2024.

3.All interviewed candidates will be notified in writing.

4.The successful candidate will be offered a labour contract.
