Curriculum Vitae

  • Dr Rumyana Marinova-Christidi was born in Sofia. She received her Master degree in History and Archives from the Faculty of History, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and her PhD in Contemporary Bulgarian History from the same Faculty. She started teaching in 2005, in 2009 was elected Assistent and in 2014 Dotsent (Associate Professor) at the chair of “History of Bulgaria”, at the Faculty of History of the University of Sofia. She teaches Contemporary History of Bulgaria, Cultural Diplomacy and Holocaust Studies.
  • Since 2011 Rumyana Marinova-Christidi is a national advisor for the Bologna Process in Higher Education, specializing on the process of internationalization of Higher Education and on new methods of teaching the Communist period and the Holocaust.
  • She is an advisor to the President of the Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria “SHALOM”.
  • She speaks Bulgarian (mother tongue), English, Greek and Russian.

Specialization:

  • Visiting professor at the University of Haifa (Israel), the Link Campus University in Rome, the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki (Greece) and the University “Carlo Bo” in Urbino (Italy).
  • Specialization at the International School for Holocaust studies, Yad Vashem (ISHS), September 2014, Jerusalem, Israel. Holder of an Yad Vashem certificate for teaching the Holocaust.

Membership:

  • Member of the European Association for Jewish Studies.
  • Holder of an award by the Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria “Shalom” for her “exceptional contribution in the realization of interethnic and religious dialogue, the fight against manifestations of hate and xenophobia, and in strengthening relations between Bulgarians and Jews”.
