The traditional ceremony celebrating the successes of the students and PhD students of the oldest Bulgarian higher education institution took place in the Sofia University Aula on May 25, 2023. The "Student of the Year" competition is the most prestigious event that the Student Council annually organizes with the aim of supporting the development of students and distinguishing the best of them.
The event was attended by the Rector of the Sofia University Prof. Anastas Gerdzhikov, representatives of the academic community, the President of the Student Council, students and guests.
At the ceremony, 34 students and doctoral students in 11 categories and the Sofia University Student of the Year were awarded. The competition is held under the patronage of the rector of Sofia University, who is also the chairman of the jury. In the separate categories, the members of the jury were deans and vice-deans of the faculties of Sofia University, as well as the head of the Department of Sports.
The Deputy Rector of the Sofia University Assoc. Prof. Georgi Valchev presented a special certificate to PhD student Eva Marinovska from the Faculty of Geology and Geography, majoring in "Geology", as a runner-up among the awardees in the Doctoral Student of the Year category.
