Within the course „Management and Development of Organizational Culture“ in the Master’s Programme „Human Resources Management and Development”, students meet with practitioners and explore the cultures of specific organizations.

On December 15, the students welcomed as their guest Eng. Dr. Iliya Garkov, Executive Vice President and Head of the Operations Office at DPM Metals. Dr. Garkov has extensive experience in the mining industry; until recently, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of the DPM Metals Group’s mining operation in Chelopech.

Through a first-hand account and numerous visual examples, Dr. Garkov guided the students along the path of one of the oldest professions—mining. He presented the best of contemporary mining technologies and showcased the modern organizational culture of DPM Metals’ operations in Bulgaria and across the Balkans.

In an environment of cutting-edge technological innovation, the core of this culture is care for people—their health and safety. The students asked many questions and received honest and insightful answers.
