On December 10th, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University hosted an inspiring guest lecture for third-semester students. The lecture was delivered by Ivan Tchakarov, Chief Operations Officer of The Reformation, who joined live from Los Angeles.
The event was part of the students' course on "Information Technologies and New Business Models". Ivan Tchakarov, an alumni of the faculty from the late 1990s, shared his career journey, which includes various senior positions in tech operations, e-commerce, global supply chain strategy, transportation, distribution, and omni-channel fulfillment in companies such as UPS, Sear Holding and Google.
During the lecture, Tchakarov highlighted key lessons from his career and offered valuable advice to the students. A significant portion of his talk focused on the innovative business model of The Reformation, a company that prioritizes sustainable practices and leverages technology to streamline its operations and reduce environmental impact, emphasizing the critical role of these strategies in achieving success in the highly competitive fashion industry. He elaborated on the importance of utilizing machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) for advanced forecasting, such as predicting customer demand patterns and optimizing inventory management, moving beyond traditional statistical approaches.
The event provided students with practical insights into the intersection of technology and business. Tchakarov's emphasis on adaptability, continuous learning, and leveraging emerging technologies inspired students to explore innovative strategies and apply forward-thinking approaches in their future careers.
